Every photograph begins with something that makes me stop.
Hi, I'm Emmanuel.
Outside of photography, you'll usually find me out on a run, hiking a trail, or taking a walk to enjoy the water, the changing skies, and everything happening around me. I also love journaling, often finding a quiet place overlooking the water where I can watch people jogging by, boats drifting across the water, dogs playing, birds overhead, and the changing light as the day unfolds. Those are often the moments that inspire me to slow down, take a closer look, and reach for my camera.
By profession, I'm a front-end engineer who enjoys building experiences that help people interact with technology in meaningful ways, but photography gives me a different kind of creative outlet. Every photograph in this portfolio was captured on film. I love the slower, more intentional process that film encourages, and the way it encourages me to slow down and be intentional with every photograph I take.
Photography gives me a way to preserve the moments that catch my attention so I can share them with others.
I'm especially drawn to photographing people because I know what it feels like to wish you had more photographs that truly captured who you were. When someone steps in front of my camera, I want them to have a photograph that makes them feel like the main character. Whether it's a graduation, a casual afternoon, or a special celebration, I enjoy creating images where the person naturally belongs within the space around them, letting the environment add to their story rather than take attention away from it.
I'm just as inspired by the world around me. Mountains, flowers, birds, clouds, changing light, and quiet moments outdoors constantly remind me of the beauty of God's creation. I enjoy finding a single subject—a flower, a tree, a beam of sunlight—and giving it room to stand out while the world around it quietly completes the picture.
This portfolio is a collection of moments that have stayed with me. Some are quiet, some are joyful, and some simply made me stop and pay attention. My hope is that as you explore these photographs, you'll find yourself slowing down, noticing the details, and seeing a little of the beauty that made me reach for my camera in the first place.
